Well what can I say/remember about 20 years ago. When all Hell was breaking loose outside I (completely unaware) was 10th row right next to the hockey railing upon which I was standing with my 70mm-210mm zoom lens. I have some of the best photos from this show. I don't know why I didn't go the second night tickets were like $18 I think. I paid $150 each night for the E. Rutherford shows in Apr. 2009 go figure. Fantasy/Jude are the only songs I can say I really remember hearing even though I've listened to this show 1,000 times. They say youth is wasted on the youth, I would love to be able to have experienced this show as a 43yo

Overall: it's unfortunate that none of the four versions of this show are very high quality, recording-wise. This show just smokes. One of the best of this tour, if not the best.
The scene: We got into the parking lot and the vibe in the bus should have let us know what we were in store for. Me and Larry had a blow-up about nothing. The whole lot vibe was really tense. I was in the hallway by the speakers during the first set and I saw someone popping a door open to allow some people in. Bad news. Next thing you know, it gets popped open once more and more than a dozen people push through before security shows up. Next thing you know, the glass doors are being busted in and over a hunder assholes are streaming in - while I'm pinned against the wall in horror at what my brothers and sisters are doing. And the worst part is that people inside were actually cheering for this. Later I found out that Chard wound up in the hospital after a vial of liquid broke in his pocket. His parents had to come down and he missed the rest of the tour. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. What a great show musically, but what a disaster in every other respect.
The music: damn, this is a fine fine show musically. Great song selection and fantastic, energetic playing. I'm not even going to point out any highlights - it's all good.

I used to have a tape of this show and listened to it all the time. I lost it and it's great hearing it again. Thanks for sharing!

This Shakedown is by far the best I have ever heard. The Foolish is a gem as well. If you like Foolish check out Hartford 1990. I was at this Pitt. show, does anyone remember during space when Jerry started to tease Other One and a collective sigh came from the audience and Jerry seemed to hear it and did an about-face and launched the Wheel? Much to everyone's delight.

This show (and recording) totally SMOKE! the recording gets better (and is much better than the other version here by the end of the first set). Don't just listen to the first track here to compare sound quality. You're pretty much front row with this recording for an awesome show. Foolish Heart is spine-tingly good and enjoy the Shakedown campers!
